I access the world around me visually and I have always tried to fix and save the visual images which have given me pleasure. I have done this with words, photography and now with paint and paper. My motivation is sustained by the sheer enjoyment of playing with a range of materials.
My interest in photography goes back many years and I use my photographs for inspiration. In the 70’s I explored batik and taught evening classes in the craft. On Gabriola I have felt free to experiment in new directions and have been inspired by classes with Morag Orr-Stevens, Melinda Wilde and Karen Cain. I have taken Community Education art classes at Malaspina and art workshops through the Gabriola Palette People.
I enjoy experimenting with various media—watercolour, acrylic, pastel. My current focus is on collage. My goal is to integrate photographic images into collage.
