Background : B.A (Psychology), M.Sc.Ed. (Counselling), teacher for 20 years in Ontario and school counselor for 10 years in BC. Born in Germany and came west in 1990, settling in White Rock.

Moved to Gabriola, “Isle of the Arts”, in 1997 as a weekend resident resulting in retirement in Dec 2001.

Retirement bought with it a new focus on self-expression and creativity on many levels. It was finally time to explore my suppressed love of art. I enroll in 3-4 art courses annually including watercolour, monoprint, collage and acrylic. I’ve studied with Marilyn Tims, Ann Hunter, Brian Simmonds, Carolyn Huog,and Ann Ziellinski. I’m constantly exploring new techniques and directions to expand my art repertoire. I’m like a kid in a candy shop!

After many enjoyable years on the island, it was time to transition to the big city of Nanaimo in 2006, where we established an inhouse gallery and studio.

Current focus and goals: Exploring traditional acrylic, monoprint, and collage techniques. Non traditional approaches includes sculpted acrylic caulking on hardboard painted with acrylics and finished with an all weather varnish, making it the perfect choice for humid environments, like kitchens, bathrooms, sunrooms, porches etc.

Artistic Statement : “Art should stir the soul and awaken dormant memories, feelings and sensations.”
