Nelly Kazenbroot

Once, I was satisfied with producing paintings that expressed the pure simplicity of realism. Now I find myself wanting to use art to remove boundaries, those that exist between people and animals and the landscapes they live in, and those that exist between the present, the past, and our unfulfilled dreams. Light, colour and form are the tools I use to achieve this. They allow me to compose complex contemporary images that build on the art and civilizations that came before me.

My goal is to produce art that is like a bottomless well and therefore worth falling into over and over again
