This post-impressionist contemporary painter works in oil media with ferocious colours of Fauvism with an European modernist flavour. This can be seen through her brush strokes and her very vibrant palette. The flat plane of her canvas supports the rich counterpoints of her vibrant tones, producing a sinuous faune organic environment of wilderness beauty found in the randomness of nature itself. The artist is very poised and spontaneous toward her passion for the turbulence of the high grass, the mystery of the deep forest, and the sun flashing through flowers and fields like a flamenco dancer. You can see and hear their vibrations. The extreme energy of the artist transmits through her painting by explosions, and by her passion for falling in love with the scene.

Marie-Pierre, born in Paris Vincennes, France in 1943 is truly a living French impressionist contemporary Fauvism painter with a growing career. She is self-taught and has been a professional artist since the age of 19 for her earlier work of sketch pen and ink drawings, and since the age of 22 for her work in the oil media. The artist has presented her work in various "Salons des Arts' in France, and also has entered various juried shows. Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout the world: France, Mexico, Czechoslovakia, Austria (Vienna), and Canada (specifically Toronto, Vancouver and Vancouver Island). The earlier years were greatly influenced by her artistic parents (Art and Letters, Actor) surrounded by beautiful music, beautiful places, and by beautiful collections of art - antiques and paintings - of her father, an expert collector. Since her 20's, she found herself continually attracted to sunlit locals to immerse herself in the colours of South France, Italy, Madrid, Spain, and the Island of Mallorca, the Canary Islands, the Morocco Desert, Algiers, and Mexico. Finally, she found her home on the West Coast settling on Vancouver Island where she found a spiritual life and the right silence to paint using all the creativity stored within. Since 1995, the artist has accomplished eight exclusive solo showings with the Barton Leier Gallery (Ladysmith), the Moka House Gallery (Victoria), Vanvouver Island Library Harbourfront Centre (Nanaimo), the Gallery of Fine Art (Chemainus), Chemainus Theatre Gallery, Nanaimo Arts Council, and Gallery Le Centre (Vancouver), Nanaimo Art Gallery of Malaspina College University (Nanaimo). Since 1998, she has received six Awards of Excellence and Honourable Mentions from the Art Council Juried Showings. To the present time, the artist continues to follow the impressionist's legacy of light and colour using expressive brush work.
