Artist Bio:
A long time resident of Vancouver Island Janene discovered the joy of painting near the end of her thirty-eight year nursing career. With her children grown and retirement ahead, this new found time allowed her to explore a variety of artistic disiplines through classes, workshops and painting groups. Contacts turned into friendships, and within this generous and supportive artistic comunity Janene realized how much she truly loved the painting process. As she continues her lifelong learning path Janene finds inspiration everywhere and is currently using either watercolour or oil paints to express her vision of the world's beauty. Currently she paints with a realistic interpretation.
Artist Statement:
My work is usually inspired by something specific in the scene. This is usually light that I find particularly evocative, but not always. Identifying the catalyst that evokes my 'urge to paint response' begins my creative process. It is then I feel free to alter my composition from direct representation to a representation combining what I see and how it makes me feel.
