LEGACY 25
The Nanaimo Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists made a promise in 2009 in honour of their 25th anniversary. “Legacy 25” was established in order that the association of local artists could give back to their community with a meaningful and enduring gift. They pledged to donate one painting a year to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation for the benefit of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). Paintings were pre-selected by a peer-review process from within the membership. This encouraged members to strive for excellence in order to provide a painting that represents high standards of the Federation.
The fifth and final donation was made November 9th, 2013, celebrating the culmination of the project, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Chapter.
These donations have been very gratefully received and represent a fine example of the variety, excellence and originality of the work produced by chapter members. Work from 2009 to 2013, by Regina Seib, Terry Nimmon, Helen Webster, Barbara Ann Scott and Judy Brayden respectively, may be viewed at various locations in the new areas of NRGH.
