Trudy Broadley
Artist Bio:

Trudy was born and raised in England and moved to Canada with her young family in 1974. Her Mother was a clothing designer and tailor, which she says gave her an eye for colour. She has always enjoyed art and has been painting since 2004. She studied Art and Culture with Emily Carr Univ. (continuing studies), and also gained knowledge from the educational programs of the Federation of Canadian Artists; she is a member of both Nanaimo and Arrowsmith Chapters of the Federation and also belongs to many local groups, such as: Mid-Island Artist’s Association, Nanaimo Art Group, and the Arts Council of Nanaimo and Ladysmith. Her work has been shown in the FCA Granville Island Gallery and at various FCA Fine Art Shows on Vancouver Island. Her work is displayed in homes and businesses across Canada, France and UK. She has received awards for her work and has been included several times in Art Avenue Magazine. Trudy has donated hours volunteering for the arts, including set design and painting for Gabriola Players Theatre Group. She is a Past President of the FCA, Nanaimo Chapter. Painting in oils is her preference and her work is rooted in nature, often including close ups of botanicals and wildlife; she also enjoys painting architecture and her style has been assessed as ‘realism/impressionism’. Shapes and colour are prevalent in her work. Trudy lives and works in Lantzville, Vancouver Island, with her husband Bruce and dog, Charlie.

Artist Statement:
