Andrew McDermott is the past President and a senior member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Andrew was born in Bolton, England and moved to Canada at a young age. Upon college graduation in Graphic Design and Illustration, he studied and further refined his own unique style, winning top awards in both Canada and the US. His most recent award is the Master Circle Medallion for the International Association of Pastel Societies presented in New Mexico in 2013.

In Andrew's workshop, you will learn to use color studies to your advantage to develop and enhance your paintings of the light from dusk to dawn. Working loosely and using color effectively, you will paint strong dynamic nocturnal paintings. Learning a few tricks to aid in your decision-making is part of the building of a painting, whether using limited color choices from transparent to opaque or, by building layers of color. Andrew will demonstrate examples of quick acrylic studies and will show how to develop them into finished paintings. References will be supplied but you may bring your own nocturnal/night photos.
