Harold showed an interest in drawing from a young age and attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts in for a year and a half in his late teen. Still needing more training to work as a commercial artist , lack of finances and a need to make a living and as a third generation trucker he went to work in the trucking industry for the next 30 odd years.
Fortunate enough to retire at fifty six he and his wife Merrily built a new home on their seven acre Gabriola Island property. House studio and out buildings and time to spare Harold turns back to drawing and painting . There were mostly watercolour workshop classes being offered at that time that soon became his medium of choice . Now twenty odd years later painting is still his passion and watercolours his choice mediums.
Over the years Harold became involved with the Federation Of Canadian Artist, became an instructor passing his knowledge on to others. Helped to organizing special events and art retreats, Instructing classes, in Canada, US, and Spain. Harold’s painting have shown locally, internationally and won many awards, his work can found in many collections in and outside Canada.
In his active early eighties Harold continues to paint and instruct workshops. He and his wife Merrily reside in the small town of Crofton on Vancouver Island.
