Artist Bio:

A longtime resident of Vancouver Island Janene discovered the joy of painting while preparing for retirement. Janene explored a variety of artistic disciplines through classes, workshops and painting groups. Contacts turned into friendships and within this generous and supportive artistic community Janene realized how much she truly loved the painting process. Janene continues her lifelong learning path as an emerging artist and finds inspiration whenever she experiences beauty. Water colour and oil are her favoured mediums in a representational style. Janene is currently an exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and an active member of the Nanaimo Chapter as well as other local art groups.

Artist Statement:

When I experience a paintable scene, I want to paint it so you feel its draw too. Light, colour and values, edges and composition all play their part to achieve this end result. I hope you to feel the welcoming light, the texture of the mossy rocks, the moist air of a foggy morning, the delight in the eyes of a child or just the peace of the place as you look at my painting. In general, I paint to share a moment. I invite you to take a moment to enjoy 'the moment'.
