Artist Bio:
I am a landscape artist working primarily in acrylic. Growing up on the west coast of British Columbia nurtured my love of the forest and ocean. As a child I could be found building forts in giant tree stumps or exploring the forests around me. After being introduced to the paintings of Emily Carr as a young girl, my love affair with trees only grew deeper.
While drawing and pottery continued to feed my creativity, it was after a move to the Sunshine Coast of BC where I really started to explore painting, while attending many workshops given by local artists I continued to define myself as a painter.
After retiring from a fulfilling career in office administration in 2014, I had more time to pursue my passion. I have been a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists-Exhibiting member since 2021. As a member I have participated in many shows at the Granville Island Gallery as well as a member of the Victoria, and Nanaimo Chapters of the FCA.
My art has been selected by jury for the Sooke Fine Arts Show and Arts and Culture Colwood shows at the Goldfinch Gallery.
Between sessions in my studio, I enjoy nature walks/hiking, and cycling. I like to stay active with preference for forested trails often near the ocean where I gather most of my reference photos for inspiration.
Artist Statement:
I see art in nature and it is where I find endless inspiration.
I love the challenge of capturing the feeling of where I stand, then recreating that feeling on canvas enjoying the experience once again.
