Nicole is a self taught artist who works with acrylic and oil paint, chalk pastels and her camera. She is also a furniture artist who restores all sorts of past treasures to new life. Her favorite subjects are farm animals, particularly horses, chickens and birds. She has held workshops on her farm to empower people to explore their creative potential.
Artist Statement:
Life in rural areas provides an exceptionally creative environment to inspire artists. I have been blessed to grow up and live on a farm where I enjoy the daily antics of farm animals and the constantly changing scenery. These visuals provide an endless source of ideas for new art projects.
I believe that people are drawn to visuals of rural areas because society has become so concentrated in urban areas. For me, art that captures the essence of the scenery and characters in these settings provides an escape for the soul for those seeking an escape from the crowded and isolated surroundings in the city.
I am inspired by so many artists and have a life long interest in learning new skills from others. It gives me great pleasure to use my gifts to bring joy to others either via a photo shoot with their favourite horse or family, or by doing a commissioned piece of art that captures a treasured memory.
