ARTIST OF THE MONTH - OCTOBER

SARAH BOILEAU

To get to know our members better, we use a list of questions known as the Proust Questionnaire, made famous by French author, Marcel Proust.

1. What is your idea of happiness?

My idea of happiness is pretty simple, the blueprint is to live life fully present in the moment and to remember to be thankful for what I have. I believe happiness is a choice and an attitude of gratitude is the key.

2. What is your greatest fear?

I don’t put much thought into fears, mostly because I don’t want to give them power. As artists we should know that what we imagine becomes real, so I think we should use that power only for good things!

3. What is your greatest extravagance?

The most extravagant thing I like to spend money on is crystals, I’m a total sucker for beautiful rocks!

4. What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

I think the most overrated virtue is obedience, greatness is not achieved just by doing what we are told, and sometimes we have to break the

"rules” to get to the next level. Thinking outside the box is a good thing.

5. What is the quality you like most in a friend?

The quality I appreciate most in a friend is honesty.

6. If you could live anywhere on earth, where would that be?

If I could live anywhere on earth I would still live on the Island, but if money were no object I would be by a beach on the west coast so I could always hear the crashing of the surf.

I am definitely inspired the most by nature, and the best way to tap into it is to spend time outside. I like going on camping trips and hikes to get ideas for paintings, and my hope is that I can share the sense of amazement I feel when I look at the world.

Oil paints are my medium, they feel beautiful and smooth to work with, like butter.

My goal is to push myself to learn how and get better at painting from the heart in a truly authentic expression of creativity.
