Zann Hemphill was awarded an honourable mention at the Nanaimo Fine Art Show this year for her painting "Complaints About the Weather".

"Our neighbours' cat, a lovely friendly tuxedo-clad Tom named Bolt, used to sun himself on our doormat. Once, I saw him caught there in the rain. He didn't make a fuss about it, but something about the way he expressed his indignation at the sky, the puddles, the inconvenience of the whole thing, just had to be painted."
